Adventures

As you may have seen from the post just below this, there was a big game this past weekend. Burke and the other guys from our team won the regional championship. It wasn't without some bumps and bruises along the way.

It is church ball, after all...

We also got busy and got our garden tilled with some fertilizer in. Well, Burke actually did the tilling. I bought some seeds, but I haven't planted them yet. It was too beautiful of a day to just work in the yard.

After we got the garden prepped, we hopped on our bikes and headed out for a ride. I have a map of all the local trails and picked one that was 2.2 miles long one way. I thought four miles pulling Adrienne in the trailer on my broken down bike would be plenty for me, but I surprised myself with my stamina. I didn't even get winded, and could have gone twice as far! It was nice to see that working out faithfully (relatively speaking) has made a difference. The kids held up pretty well, but they have almost grown out of their bikes, so they were pedaling like maniacs with their knees up to their elbows trying to keep up with us. Maybe Santa will bring some more bikes for Christmas this year. *Sigh*

We got this little "hitchhiker" for Annika, who doesn't know how to ride without training wheels yet (yes, she is six, and should be able to ride alone, but we are talking about the kid who didn't walk until she was two and just learned how to button her own clothes about a month ago--coordination isn't her strong point). It made the ride much more pleasant for everyone to be able to have her keep up.

There was a really cool BMX course at the trailhead. The boys decided to give it a try, but ended up with some cuts and scrapes. I was so glad they were wearing their helmets.

Although only the boys actually tried biking on the course, Annika and Adrienne made sure to take a great roll in the dirt as well, sans bikes. They were completely filthy before the ride started.

Nathan-my manly little man.

A cool tunnel on the trail. Look at those good-lookin' guys and gal.

A view into Adrienne's world. She loved the ride. We saw lots of dogs along the way. She made sure to greet each one with a happy "Hi, puppy!"

Kids, you gotta love 'em.

I took this video of the kids as we waited to load the bikes back up onto the van. What can I say? We've got some smooth moves at our house.
